But Who Are You, Really?

Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness: and let them have dominion...And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply.

Genesis 1:26a and 1:28a

Do you know who you really are? Here are a few points to consider:

1. You are a replica of God's image and likeness (character)

If you read through Genesis chapter 1 you will discover that God created everything else, "each according to its kind." Mankind, however, is distinct from the rest of creation. God decided that man was to have His image and His likeness.

As a Christian, you are required to reflect Gods character and glory. We look at the great artists; Michelangelo, da Vinci, Raphael — their works speak for themselves. And every painting has distinguishing features. People can look at Leonardos work and say, "This truly is da Vincis handiwork."

When people look at you, what do they see? Do they see the love of God in your life? God is love — that is Gods character. God is light — that is His image. You were created to be an image of Light to a world living in darkness, to show forth Gods love to the world.

2. God created you to rule and subdue over all things on earth

Satan has done a good job of convincing man that they are worthless and will amount to nothing. You need to remember that God does not want you living in a level of existence lower than that on which He has made it possible for you to dwell. You should strive to be the best you can be and to reach the highest levels you can reach. God created you to have dominion, power and authority over all the fish of the sea, over all the birds of the air, and over all principalities and powers of darkness.
