Spiritual Dehydration
Behold, the LORD maketh the earth empty, and maketh it waste, and turneth it upside down, and scattereth abroad the inhabitants thereof.
Isaiah 24:1Have you ever felt like your whole life is just dry and you are walking endlessly seeking something to quench your thirst and you just cannot find it? You wake up one morning and you feel like doing nothing. Your lips are dry, and you cannot pray. Your heart feels empty and every part of you just wants to give up?
Spiritual dehydration is not a sudden, wake-up-in-the-morning thing. It is a slow, often unseen process that is initiated and executed in a persons life. You can be on fire for God for months, but slowly the enemy diminishes the flame. You get relaxed; you get comfortable in your walk with Christ. When you get saved you are excited and believed that you could change the world. But then the realities of life kick in; you start looking at what the world is doing rather than what God can do through you in the world.
Or you start skipping time with God — from reading the Word one hour a day you've cut down to 30 minutes, maybe 5. And instead of praying for 30 minutes, you get too busy at work to give God a minute. And when all this happens, you can be assured that spiritual dehydration is settling into your life.
But the Word says that out of your belly shall flow rivers of living water. You do not have to go to a wishing well to get revival; but you need to get on your knees before God and ask Him to fill you with that water so that you can thirst no more. If you feel spiritually dehydrated, get back to God. Repent and fill your life again with the things of God. Confess in your life, "Spiritual dehydration will die in the name of Jesus. Out of my belly shall flow rivers of living water."
Do not become a spiritual wasteland. Purpose in your heart that your walk with Christ will be a life of purpose and, more importantly, a life of fruition. Spiritual dehydration will not be your portion, in the name of JESUS.
