Restore Unto Me the Joy of Thy Salvation
Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.
Psalm 51:12David was very repentant when he wrote this psalm. He asked God to hide his face from his sins, to blot out his iniquities, to create a clean heart in him, and to renew an upright spirit within him. And he asks, "Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation."
Do you believe that God can do a new work in your life today? Every day with God can be a whole new experience. So often we treat God the same as we would any other day. We do not anticipate any difference in our lives; our lives become monotonous — we follow the same routine, we get up, pray, go to work, go home, pray and sleep.
"Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation." So often we lose the joy in our lives because of sin, because we feel we have let God down, because trials and tribulations really do have a negative impact in our lives, because sometimes we get angry or hurt and we just want to run away. But God is always there. Even when we feel like we have let Him down.
Psalm 103:8 says, "The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy." The Word goes on to say, "Whosoever calls upon the name of the LORD shall be saved." You can run from God as much as you want to, but you cannot hide from Him. But if you call upon His name He will hear you and He will answer you and He will save you and deliver you.
God wants you to be filled with the joy of His salvation. Gods joy is a life- changing experience; His joy rejuvenates you, makes you alive, and gives you strength, hope and peace.
Without Gods joy your life is stagnant; you snail along in your walk with Christ. Nehemiah wrote, "The joy of the Lord is my strength." When you faint, His joy will strengthen you. There is so much more to write about on His joy; but it is best that I leave you to experience that joy for yourself.
