Confess the Spoken Word
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
John 1:1"Word" rendered here comes from the Greek word, "logos," and refers to Gods SPOKEN word. Go back to the beginning and you learn that God did not think things into existence, or paint pictures to make things alive. God spoke. God declared. God said, "Let there be" and the darkness and the void of the earth had to obey.
Psalm 119 says, "Thy word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against thee." Again, here, we see David was speaking about Gods spoken word. And what did David do? He hid Gods words in his heart. Why? Matthew 12:34 says, "Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh."
When Jesus was tempted by Satan 40 days in the desert, Jesus resisted the enemy with the Word of God. "It is written." Gods spoken word became Gods written word. 2 Timothy 3:16 says, "All scripture is given by inspiration of God."
So what are the ingredients to get victory in your life? Firstly, you need to acknowledge that the Bible is indeed Gods Word. Second, you need to do what David did ... you need to get the Word of God into your heart.
Hiding Gods Word in your heart means taking the time to read Gods Word, meditate and dissect the Word of God. You need to get every chapter and every verse of every book of the Bible into your heart.
Next, you need to confess the Word of God. If you speak the Word of God with authority, all creation has to obey you because you speak the words of God. Why did the fig tree wither and die when Jesus spoke to it? Why were limbs straightened when Peter spoke to those limbs? Because these great men spoke the Word of God. Do not just read the Word out of duty, but study the Word. And speak the Word with power.
