Who Is the Word?
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory of the only begotten of the Father), full of grace and truth.
John 1:14One of the most important facets of the Word is the use of words in the Bible. Lets have a look at the above verse:
The Only Begotten of the Father
This is an important aspect of Jesus nature. The most important. In John 3:16 we read, "For God so loved the world that He gave us His ONLY BEGOTTEN SON." To beget represents the relationship of a parent to a child. Begat means to come forth from one, to be produced. And here it is made clear that Jesus was the only begotten Son of God.
This means that everything that Jesus inherited in a spiritual nature came from God. Jesus was a replica of God, and came down in the flesh. Jesus was the Son of God.
Jesus was "full of grace and truth"
Grace and truth. What is grace? Webster says that grace is "the primary sense of gratus; the free unmerited love and favour of God, the spring and source of all benefits men receive from him." And here John describes Jesus as the man who was full of this unmerited love and favour of God. Why did Jesus not hesitate to heal? Why was Jesus always ready to forgive? Jesus was, and still is, full of grace and truth.
Today, Jesus is ready to save you and deliver you because He is the God that is full of grace and truth.
My friend, we often read that Jesus is that Word that became flesh. But if we do not use this knowledge, it profits us nothing at all. You need to apply this knowledge and walk in victory. Knowing who the Word is is vital, but being able to use that name wisely is what brings victory and glorifies God.
