After a Great Victory

And Saul eyed David from that day forward.

1 Samuel 18:9

Have you ever experienced a great victory in your life? A person gets healed? The lame walk? You are excited about God one day and you cannot stop praising Him and glorifying Him?

But suddenly ... it feels like God does not exist. This depression or loneliness or feelings of rejection sink over you and you sit, wondering, "What happened?" The enemy happened. That's what.

If this is you at the moment, do not be discouraged. There are many a tale of mighty men and women of God who just sank in their seats after a great victory. David, after conquering Goliath, had to watch his life carefully. This man of God had to run for his life. The very same king that he helped wanted to kill him.

Joshua, after causing the walls of Jericho to collapse, faced adversity after his great victory. Elijah, after destroying the prophets of Baal, went and hid under a tree and wished himself dead. Imagine that. A mighty prophet who destroyed 450 prophets of Baal running from one woman.

The big question is, "What do I do after a great victory?" The answer is simple, "Prepare yourself for the next great victory." Don't sit back and get complacent. Do not reminisce over the past victory unless it is to encourage yourself to get you through the next battle.

Be sober and be vigilant. Watch and pray. I cannot emphasize enough the importance of continuing in prayer. Get close to the Body of Christ; get believers like you that you can pray with and exhort you.

Remember that after every great victory lies the potential for an even greater victory. Remember that every battle brings greater battles as Jesus continues to perfect the faith He has placed inside of you.
