The Teacup

He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

John 7:38

Your spiritual life is a lot like a teacup standing pleasantly on a saucer. When you first accept Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, that teacup is empty and completely dry. And, like a teacup on the shelf in a store, you are eagerly anticipating the day that somebody would grab you and use you for his purpose.

However, over time, you slowly get stained on the inside. The way you were treated by your colleagues and family, and even your close friends and church members, have taken a lot out of you. And, eventually, you end up with tea in your teacup that is days, sometimes weeks, and at times, even years old.

There are many sitting with old tea in their cups. Some have bitterness and anger. Others have not let go of past hurts and painful relationships. Some have teas of unforgiveness and strife, resentment and hatred. Some have secluded themselves from the outside world, hiding at the back of the cupboard, hoping that nobody sees the mess hiding within them.

Thank God that He still sees you in that corner. And He wants to clean you and fill you up with a fresh cup of tea. You see, God does not want to see you hiding in a corner alone. He wants to show your beauty to the world.

The Holy Spirit is that fresh cup of tea. This fresh cup of tea wants to fill you up, so that you can overflow with a living, powerful force; a power that will flow into the saucer of your close relationship and family. And once that saucer is filled up, the power can flow into every area that surrounds the beautiful teacup — your church, ministry, your neighbourhood.

I ask you today — will you allow the Holy Spirit to fill you up with a fresh cup of tea? Will you allow Jesus into your heart to clean out the old tea first and get rid of the sour milk? Today, I encourage you to let Jesus refill and the Holy Spirit refuel you with a fresh anointing. Go on ... show your beauty to the world.
