Jeremiah was a dynamic prophet. But, on studying his life, you realize that he was just as human as you and me. Sometimes we think that the people in the Bible were perfect and that they never did anything wrong. But were wrong. The "cloud of witnesses" spoken of in Hebrews 12 had to endure the very same temptations and tests and persecutions that you endure today.

And when going through trials, it is easy to give up on God and head back to the comfort of your own home to avoid persecution. But greater is your reward when you have the King of kings by your side. When people want to see you destroyed, it is easy to throw in the towel and give up and blame God for the mess.

Jeremiah knew that he could stand on Gods word. When God said, "Be not afraid of their faces, for I am with thee to deliver thee," Jeremiah knew that God would never leave his side. He knew that God would never forsake him. There were many times when Jeremiah felt like giving up, but God kept assuring him that his enemies would not prosper over him.

You are faced with the same situation at times. We know that Satan wants to steal, kill and destroy you. As a Christian, you are constantly under attack — even from your family members at times — they will mock you for serving a Living God. Do not let your heart faint.

God is with you, and He will not allow His name to be put to shame. You are His child and you belong to the ever-living, all-powerful God. He will not let the wicked prosper over you. You are the sheep of His pasture and He will not allow you to be fed to the wolves. Whenever you feel that the world is overcoming you, remember what Jesus said, "Be of good cheer, for I have overcome the world." Call upon the name of the Lord in the days of distress, and He will answer you and give you the strength you need to overcome any persecution.
