Four Acts of Faith
Rejoice evermore. Pray without ceasing. In everything give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 to 19I truly believe that if we would just listen to these four requests from Paul, we would live a much more fulfilled life. Four things Paul, speaking from experience, encourages you and I to do. If you have a Bible close to you, read Acts 16 to see these four points in practice.
First, rejoice evermore. When you rejoice, its the attitude of the heart. Its your heart saying, "Lord, just as you were with the three young men in the fire, you are with me in this dark and unpleasant situation. I can rejoice because I know that I am delivered already because You are with me."
Pray without ceasing. There is immense power in prayer. Prayer has the power to change situations when you feel hopeless. In the midnight hour, when all was dark and gloomy in a prison cell, Paul and Silas raised their voices to Heaven, and the response was a mighty earthquake.
In everything give thanks. Giving thanks is a step of faith. It is thanking God for the finished work. Every battle you face today was won over two thousand years ago on the cross of Calvary. Now that is something to be thankful for — the battle is not yours, it was Gods and it is finished already. All you need to do is to re-enforce the victory you have in Christ Jesus.
Finally, do not quench the Holy Spirit. Allow the Holy Spirit to continue working through you. By doing so, you not only reap victory in your life, but prison doors are opened and men are saved because of your testimony.
You see, when you rejoice, pray, give thanks and allow the Holy Spirit to work in and through you — the lives of those around you change as well. That well of life inside you overflows into the lives of those around you.
