Finding Wisdom

I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.

Proverbs 8:17

What is your definition of wisdom? Is it being able to give good advice to friends in trouble? Is it the abilities and strengths that you have? Wisdom goes beyond knowledge. Wisdom is being able to use knowledge effectively.

It is the ability to not just remember things, but the ability to take action. It is faith in action; reading the Word of God and doing what the Word asks you to do. That is wisdom.

How does one acquire wisdom? The Bible says that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom." You can read the Bible, practice what it says and still be considered unwise. If you do not fear (reverence, respect, love, admire) the Lord, then you do not possess the Godly wisdom that you need in todays world. The fear of the Lord is the doorway to you obtaining wisdom.

Once you have the fear of the Lord in your life, the next step is to ask for wisdom. The Bible says that getting wisdom is as simple as asking Him for it, and God, "giveth to all men liberally, and does not show favouritism," and you shall receive it.

How else do you find wisdom? Well, by hanging around with the right crowd. Experience is a wonderful teacher. Get around people who are filled with Godly wisdom and learn from them. There are two types of wisdom in this world ... devilish wisdom that is sensual and earthly and leads to destruction. And there is Gods wisdom that produces good fruits of purity, peace, gentleness and mercy.

Before you go looking for houses and earthly substance ... get wisdom. The things of this world will fade away, moth and rust shall corrupt it, but wisdom remains eternal. The wisdom you pass onto others will continue from generation to generation; but the things of this world will fade away eventually. Today, purpose in your heart to seek wisdom above earthly riches, and God will give you the wisdom you need to live a fulfilled life.
