Death to Debt
If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon who will commit to your trust the true riches?
Luke 16:11Who will commit to your trust the true riches? If God cannot find you faithful in the unrighteous mammon can He trust you to look after spiritual matters? Did you know that every spiritual blessing and every good gift that God has lined up for you is slowly released to you as He finds you faithful in the little things?
Consider these 6 points when managing your finances:
1. Are you robbing God? Malachi 3:8 says, "Will a man rob God? Yet ye have robbed me in tithes and offerings." Are you faithfully paying your tithes every month?
2. God wants you to be free from all debt. Proverbs 22:7 says that the borrower is servant to the lender. You are a slave to your creditors, and Jesus came to set the captives free. If Satan can keep you in debt, he will continue to hinder you from sowing into the kingdom of God and reaping a bigger harvest.
3. Don't worry about tomorrow. Worry produces doubt, and doubt destroys faith. Worrying about tomorrow is not pleasing to God. If God clothes the lilies of the valley and feeds the sparrows, which are the least, how much more will He look after you?
4. At the same time, though, budget. Luke 14:28 says, "For which of you, intending to build a tower, sitteth not down first, and counteth the cost, whether he have sufficient to finish it." You cannot build a house without first counting the cost. Can you afford to enter into a new venture? Or will it block that which you want to give to God?
5. Pray over your finances and over your budget. Ask God for His wisdom in handling your finances. Ask God for a spirit of self- control — being able to control your finances and sticking to your budget.
6. Finally, put your trust in God and not man. Psalm 118 says that it is better to put your trust in God than to put your confidence in man. Man will disappoint you; God is faithful to perform His Word.
