Standing By

In the day that thou stoodest on the other side, in the day that the strangers carried away captive his force, and foreigners entered into his gates, and cast lots upon Jerusalem, even thou wast as one of them.

Obadiah 1:11

When read in context, Obadiah was prophesying against Edom because they aided Israels enemies to overcome Israel. Doesn't sound much like what you and I would do. After all, are we not children of the Most High God?

When God created the earth and all that is in it, God handed over His authority of earth to man; He trusted you and I to look after His creation. Then sin entered the world and man gave that authority over earth to Satan. But Jesus came, and He took back the keys from Satan and He gave man the authority again. We do not have to stand by and watch the world being taken captive by the enemy.

Jesus left us with a powerful tool that the enemy fears. It was a little prayer, taught to the disciples in Matthew 6. There is one line of the prayer that says, "Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven."

You see, you have the power to change situations in your family, your neighbourhood, your city, your country, and in other nations. The problem many Christians face is "intimidation." The enemy intimidates you into thinking, "Do you think your prayer is going to make a difference to countries? You are a nothing and can do nothing."

Truth is — nobody is a firmer believer in the power of prayer than Satan. Not that he practices it, but he feels the effects of it. The one thing he fears is to watch a weak saint on his knees in prayer.

You are not just anybody. You are a child of God. Matthew 16 says that He will give you "the keys to the kingdom of Heaven." That key has been given to you; it is called prayer. You hold this key and you are able to unleash the Kingdom of Heaven here on earth. Do not stand by ... rather, fight a good fight of faith.
