Be a Witness

Howbeit Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things the Lord hath done for thee, and hath had compassion on thee.

Mark 5:19

You might be the only Bible some people ever get to see. God wants you to be a witness for Him. In Acts, He told His disciples, "Ye shall be witnesses unto me." Not theologians, not argumentalists, but witnesses.

Witnesses are people who can give a first-hand account of what really happened. And who can be a better witness than somebody who has experienced not only the power of God, but also the mercy and grace of God and His gift of salvation?

Here are three quick points to learn from todays reading:

1. Jesus delivered a young man from a legion of demons. Jesus then tells the young man, who lived in the mountains, to go home to his friends. The only problem is that this man had no friends. He lived in the tombs, feared by men. I believe God was speaking in faith here, knowing that his life was changed. When Jesus restores you he prospers you socially — He sends you friends and people who will help you grow in Him and to whom you can witness.

2. The people asked Jesus to leave their shores because they were filled with fear. Fear always drives out faith. You can either have faith and believe a testimony or be filled with fear and reject the Saviour. Today, many people live in fear to receive Jesus — because of mental or physical strongholds, or because of religious and cultural strongholds. In fact, it is really more a fear of man.

3. Finally, we are witnesses. You are living in an appointed time. You are not here by mistake, you are not here because of a one-night event, you are not here because your parents planned you to the last full stop. You are here because God purposed you to be here, in the place you are right now, in this very generation. You may be the only Bible some people ever get to see. Open up and let your testimony bring many to the knowledge of Jesus Christ.
