A Friend of Sinners

The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.

Matthew 11:19

How often do you testify and share the Word of God with others? Or are you the type of person that stays away from the world because you are too afraid that the world will condemn you for preaching the Word of God?

When you look at the world, what do you see? Do you see opportunity? Do you see a person searching for answers? Or do you see a man who will never give up his alcohol? Or a woman who will never give up her drug addiction?

Jesus did not stop the sinners from coming to Him. He didn't say, "Stay away from me, you drug addict." or, "There is no hope for you so I wont bother preaching the Good News to you." The Son of man was called a "Friend of sinners." And He was not influenced by their sins, but He ministered the Word of God and became a light to their darkness.

Jesus did not throw the first stone at the adulteress either. Neither did Jesus leave the man on the hill with his legion of demons. Jesus did not condemn, but He encouraged and He uplifted. He called the weary unto Him and gave them strength. He gave a woman at a well the hope of eternal life. He gave a thief on a cross salvation and a ticket to enter the kingdom of Heaven.

Wisdom is justified of her children. Wisdom is having the ability to know what to say and when to say it. You do not know what the person next door is going through, and why he has turned to alcohol for his hope. But God knows that mans situation.

Rather than judging people for what they do now, befriend them and give them the answer that they are looking for — the answers that can only come from the true Bread of Life, the Word of God.
