A Divine Appointment
And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert. And he arose and went: and behold, a man of Ethiopia was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esias the prophet.
Acts 8:26 to 28 (paraphrased)You are where you are right now because of an appointment — some of us are at home looking after the children, whilst others have an appointment at work or at school. Nevertheless, an appointment normally means that you need to be at an appointed place for an appointed purpose.
The Bible calls us "the light of the world" and that we are to let "our light shine before men." Have you ever thought of the consequences of a lighthouse not having a light in the late hours of the night? Have you ever tried finding your way through a dark house or driving through a tunnel with your car lights off?
God has appointed you to be where you are at this moment. And why? Because God wants you to shine above everything else around you. God wants you to be that testimony to those around you so that they too can know the Jesus that loves you.
In todays scripture, its not just the divine appointment that Philip had with the Ethiopian eunuch that is important. Three words stand out, "which is desert." Did those words have to be in the Bible? Why was it important to note that?
You see, God will use you when you are going through a desert too. God will send people to you or He will send you to the needy ... and sometimes this means that you have to go through a dry area. The desert is not always a bad place to be; and many a time God uses that desert experience to give you one more testimony and draw you and others a step closer to Him.
Do you have a divine appointment today? Be the salt of the earth and let that salt flavour every place you go to today.
