Your Way or His Way?

For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD.

Isaiah 55:8

Do you remember the days of catching birds? I would take a box, and a stick. Then I would tie a long piece of string to the stick. I would then set up my trap, put some bait under the box, and wait for my unsuspecting guest to come along and be my slave.

Sounds a lot like what we do with God, doesn't it? We try to confine Him to a little box. Some of us try to get Him into a lamp, and we rub Him up with promises of faithfulness so that He can grant us our wishes.

Well, my friend, the bad news is that God does not work that way. Actually, you can go and sit down, and spend the next twenty years of your life trying to figure out God, and you wont even scratch the surface of who God really is.

We try and paint a picture of who God is — or at least, of whom we want Him to be to us. We limit God — we write the vision and then ask God to help us run with it. What have you just done? You limited God to your vision. And then, when God tries to shift the vision in the direction that He wants it to move in you stop God because its not what you wanted.

Do not limit God to your box. Your box was created based on the lifestyle you've lived, on your history, and on your surroundings. "If my parents were poor, then God wants me to be poor."

"If my sister had a miscarriage, then my God, I am not even going to try to have children." Such lies from the enemy.

God wants you to be blessed and prosperous. The LORD "is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we could ask or think" — but He can only do as much as we will allow Him to do.

The next time you cast your burdens to Jesus, let your Heavenly Father do what HE does best ... make things beautiful His way and in His time.
