Murmuring
But on the morrow all the congregation of the children of Israel murmured against Moses and against Aaron, saying, Ye have killed the people of the LORD.
Numbers 16:41Murmuring, the art of uttering complaints in a low, half-articulated voice, brought about by a sullen discontent. It is always easier to complain to others about a problem than to try and fix it on your own. After all, who wants to waste energy in trying to fix a problem when it brings just so much more joy to complain about it?
The problem is that murmuring brings strife, and strife brings division. So it is quite easy to see that God does not like a murmuring people, as He is a God of unity and not division.
Heres a common problem we find today - we find ourselves in a wilderness in life, trying our utmost best to reach our Promised Land, but we just cannot see that land flowing with milk and honey. So, when you get tired of the situation, you start murmuring. "Oh God, its your fault. You said you would take me out of here, but LOOK AT ME. Still walking around the same mountain."
It doesn't help complaining. And isn't it amazing how murmuring is always a direct result of somebody elses wrongdoing? Murmuring never points a finger at self — its always somebody elses fault. Well, perhaps that is why you cannot reach your Promised Land. You are so concerned with pointing fingers at others that you do not allow God to point your feet in the right direction.
I encourage you ... if you want to speak about a situation; speak words of faith into that situation. If you are going through a problem, find somebody who is going to make a positive difference in your life; somebody who will build your faith to climb over your mountain.
All murmuring does is make a mountain out of a molehill. Love, however, and faith in a living God, conquers all things.
