The Watchman

So you, son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel, therefore you shall hear a word from My mouth and warn them for me. When I say to the wicked, ,,O wicked man, you shall surely die. and you do not speak to warn the wicked from his way, that wicked man shall die in his iniquity, but his blood will I require at your hand.

Ezekiel 33:7 and 8

God has set thee as a watchman in todays evil and perverse generation. He has made you to be a beacon of hope, a lighthouse to ships approaching treacherous shores. Are you a vigilant watchman, constantly on the lookout for somebody who needs salvation? Here are a few keys to being a watchman:

A watchman must love his job and the people he is protecting. You cannot be a watchman if you have no interest in the city you are protecting. The love you have must not be a carnal love, but the love of God that does not condemn and that reaches out to those in need.

A watchman is always alert; he is a sober and vigilant person on the lookout in his Strong Tower. When he sees the enemy coming he knows what to do, and he does it quickly and effectively.

A watchman has his weapons close to him — whether it is a horn, a trumpet; whatever the case is, the watchman has that instrument close to his mouth to warn the people. As a Christian, you need to have your weapons of prayer and the Word in you all the time. There is no time to slumber and sleep.

The watchman knows that the blood of the city will be upon his hands if he does not warn them. That would make the watchman, in todays world, a criminal guilty of multiple murders.

God has made you a watchman. He wants you to have a heart of salvation. God says that He does not delight in the death of the wicked (Ezekiel 33:11); it is not His will that any man perish but that all come to repentance. Develop a heart that yearns for the salvation of people. God is looking for people that will stand in the gap for the nations today.
