When God Is Not Among You
Go not up, for the LORD is not among you, that ye be not smitten before your enemies.
Numbers 14:42God promised the children of Israel a land flowing with milk and honey. That was Gods perfect will for their lives — a land where they would prosper and where sickness would be far from them; a land where their enemies would not triumph over them but would scatter in seven directions.
Learn this valuable lesson from the Israelites — if God is not among you, you are heading for destruction. Christians have this notion of "blind faith." I call it testing God. Ill give you two examples. I earn R3,000 a month but I go and buy a Mercedes Benz confessing to myself, "God, Your Word says that You will give me the desires of my heart and that You are my Provider. I am buying this car in faith because that is my desire and I know that You will provide the finances to buy it." To me, that's called blind faith — and God is not a part of that plan. God does not believe in blind faith; its either He directs your paths or you are on your own. If He wanted you to have the car He would make sure you have the cash to buy it.
Lets look at the second example, "Well God, I am sick and tired of putting up with the nonsense here in the office. I know that You have a bigger plan for my life, so I am just going to resign and trust in your tender mercies." Again — blind faith. Did God tell you to resign? Did God say, "Throw in the towel, my child, and I will open a new door for you"? But, because He loves you He opens another door — that is His permissive will; it is not what He wanted for you. He had something bigger and better planned. But because of your moaning you had to settle for second-best.
Do you want to live in Gods perfect will? Proverbs says, "Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths." In other words, when God says turn left, you turn left. When God says be still, you be still. Walk in Gods perfect will and He will never leave you nor forsake you.
