NEVER GIVE UP
And there were four leprous men at the entering in of the gate, and they said one to another, Why sit we here until we die. Let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live, and if they kill us, we shall but die.
2 Kings 7:3 and 4NEVER, EVER GIVE UP. No matter how bleak the situation may seem, you are a child of God. You have a resurrection power within you. A power that can raise people from the dead; and a seed of faith that can move mountains.
Four lepers were sitting at the gate of Samaria. The king of Syria had captured the city and the city was experiencing a terrible famine. So bad was the famine that children were being boiled so that the parents could survive. These lepers had three choices; they could head back into the city, they could sit exactly where they were or they could go forward.
As a child of God, firstly, NEVER EVER look back. Never dwell on the sickness and the hurts and the pains of the past. Lots wife was commanded not to look back, and she did and was turned to a pillar of salt. The same with you; do not become a pillar of salt. Do not let Satan remind you about your Sodom and Gomorrah. Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed by the fire of our living God. Today, the fire of the Holy Spirit has set you alive and has made you dead to your past. You are a new creation in Christ Jesus.
Second choice: Accept defeat in your life. The lepers could have sat exactly where they were. They could have accepted defeat in their lives and just waited to die. So many believers do that. They dwell in their sickness or in sin. Satan comes along and lies to them, telling them that their sin is too big for God to forgive. Worse still, he makes you think that the sin is too small that you do not need to repent.
The third choice carried hope for the lepers. They moved forward. And that decision made the Syrian camp scatter. The lepers sounded like an army before the enemy and the lepers saved a nation from a famine.
