The God of Peace Be With Thee
Those things, which ye have both learned, received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you.
Philippians 4:9The Bible says that you must be a doer of the Word, and not just a hearer of the Word. You cannot read the Word and still continue doing things you did before you got saved. The Word should transform you. There are two ways to read the Bible: firstly, reading the Word to fulfil duty and secondly, reading the Word to make the Word a living part of your life.
The former will get you nowhere. Doing things out of duty will accomplish little. God is not interested in fulfilling duty, He is interested in your heart. He wants you to change. He is preparing you for a Heavenly Kingdom where a mansion is prepared for those that receive His Son. But until then there is a training ground called earth where we need the God of peace to be with us.
Whatsoever ye have "learned and received, and heard, and seen in me, do." Paul did not teach one thing and do another. He was consistent in what he taught and what he did. There were many who never got to see him yet they read his letters. And their lives were transformed through those letters.
What do your letters say? Is what you are being taught reflected in your lifestyle? Is your life being transformed by the Word of God?
Paul says that there was one condition for the God of peace to be with you ... DO. That's it. You can believe the Word but until you start acting on the Word all is in vain.
Paul wrote, "Whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things." The Word of God encompasses everything that Paul spoke about. Get into the Word and let the God of peace be with you always.
