Newness of Life
Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
Romans 6:3 to 4God has given you a new life. He says that He has washed away the old person and you have been made a brand new person in Christ. Your old self has been killed, baptized into the death on the cross. You are given an opportunity to enjoy a new life filled with promise, filled with blessings, filled with His Word, filled with opportunity, purpose and a precious plan for your life.
But so many of us move back to the old life! We forget the goodness of the LORD or we lose the love of Christ in our lives and we end up becoming slaves to sin. The Bible says that the just shall live by faith, "but if any man draw back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him." God does not delight in His people when we return to sin rather than live a life of holiness and faith.
If you find that your new life is being overcome by the old self you need to take control of the situation. You are accountable for this new life. God has given you everything you need to be victorious. The key to stay away from sinning is to develop a solid relationship with the Solid Rock.
Pray often. When your prayer life dies, the new life dies with it. And when your prayer life is strengthened your new life develops from a baby to an adult.
You have been created a new person, a person that has rivers of living water flowing from within you. This new life is a life of fire, a life of power and a life of authority. But all this can be lost if sin is given dominion over our bodies. I exhort you today, "Do not let sin rule over you. Pray often and develop a life of faith that is pleasing to God."
