Walk In the Light
But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
Proverbs 4:18 to 19I once read that light is not the opposite of darkness, but the darkness is, rather, the absence of light. Light and darkness cannot co-exist — you cannot find light and darkness in the same spot at the same time.
Similarly, in your walk with Christ, God wants you to make sure that your light is switched on all the time. God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. God will not and cannot be associated with darkness. In Genesis we read that darkness was upon the face of the earth — and God said, "Let there be light."
God needed light to bring to pass everything that needed to transpire. The entire universe and every day of your life could only be fashioned once light was introduced. And today, you need that light — the light of God — to illuminate your life, to bring to pass every day that God has prepared for you. Without this light you walk in darkness, and are bound to stumble as you continue your walk.
Two things are of critical importance to ensure that you walk in the light. First, you need the Holy Spirit to be active in your life. Many today keep the Holy Spirit locked up in a room for those days when they stumble. No. God wants His Spirit to be alive and active in your life all the time. The Holy Spirit is not the sheep, He is the shepherd — you have to be led by the Spirit.
Second, you need the Word of God to illuminate your life. Psalm 119 says, "Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path." Study and meditate on the Word of God. Allow the Word to guide you, teach you, correct you and to move you forward.
I exhort you today — the Bible calls you the light of the world. In a world where darkness, death, destruction and gloom surround every person, stand up and let your light shine before men.
