It's What The Lord Has Done For Me — Part 4
The Spirit of the LORD is upon me, because He hath anointed me to ... heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives ...
Luke 4:18 to 19 (paraphrased)Have you suffered from a broken heart? As much as you may want to stay on the mountaintop with God, you may find yourself getting discouraged and even ending up in a valley of despair.
But Jesus, through His sacrifice, died and overcame the flesh. The word "heal" means "to make whole, restore, complete, to bring salvation." Jesus is our Saviour; in times of trouble and need He will comfort us. The Bible says that He will not leave us comfortless, but He will give us the Holy Spirit to comfort us during times of brokenheartedness. And the Holy Spirit could only be sent went Jesus left this earth.
But a broken heart goes further than just being discouraged, because the word also talks about a spiritual bankruptcy and helplessness. Jesus came to heal, to restore, to mend, to save you from suffering defeat and despondency. Satan will try hard to destroy you; know that Jesus has paid the ultimate price for you and for me — He has redeemed you; bought you back into Gods promises and you can enjoy a prosperous spiritual, physical and emotional life. Even during trials and temptations the Bible reminds us to rejoice. Jesus has overcome the world for you already!
Many people just live to die — that is never what God planned. God planned for you to live a life of blessings and prosperity. Do not confess, "I am poor now so I can be rich in Heaven" because God wants you to share in His Kingdom now. And don't say, "Its okay if I'm sick now, in Heaven there is no sickness." Jesus died so that you can be delivered from sickness, from poverty, from the shackles that the enemy has around you.
God sent His Son so that you could walk a fulfilled life. Being brokenhearted is not fulfilling — Jesus died for you so that you do not have to be sorrowful. He is a God of light and He wants you to share in that light. Walk in that light today.
