Jesus, I Will Run to You

Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved saith unto Peter, It is the Lord. Now when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he girt his fishers coat upon him (for he was naked), and did cast himself into the sea.

John 21:7

Have you ever read the Word of God from the writers point of view, or placed yourself into the persons position at that particular moment? Here we have Simon Peter with a few disciples, out fishing. This was after Jesus was crucified to the cross and after He showed Himself to the disciples.

But take a few steps back, and put yourself into Peters shoes ... his big mouth that constantly got him into trouble with the Lord, beholding the Lord transform before him, the day he saw Jesus raise the dead. And then place yourself at the point where Peter had to watch his Lord and Teacher get arrested and betrayed.

Picture Peter, as he waited for that cock to crow. And put yourself into Peters shoes as he watched Jesus get nailed to a cross, hung up like a sinner and die as the Passover Lamb who redeemed the world from their sins.

But lets go to the good news too. Here is Peter, fishing with his mates, when Jesus calls them. Not realizing immediately who it is, they obey what the man says, only to discover that this Man is their Saviour. Peter immediately got himself dressed and ran to Jesus. Here we find a man who wanted to spend every last minute with Jesus. He went through the agony of losing Jesus a first time, and he was not prepared to go through that again. He ran into the arms of his King.

My friend, we can choose to do our own thing and to try to solve our problems on our own. But Jesus said, "They that believe in me shall never thirst again." It is as simple as believing in Him, as simple as running towards Him to receive food for your spirit. Are you running towards Jesus? The name of Jesus brings peace, love, joy, refreshment, nourishment, rest, and so much more. JESUS LOVES YOU ... UNCONDITIONALLY. And He waits with open arms, waiting to embrace you.
