What Would You Do?
And Jacob was left alone, and there wrestled a man with him until the breaking of the day ... And he said, Let me go, for the day breaketh. And Jacob said, I will not let thee go, except thou bless me.
Genesis 32:24 and 26How desperate are you to receive Gods blessings in your life? Are you willing to wrestle and fight for your blessings? Are you prepared to take your armour out of the closet and get geared for battle?
Would you be prepared to go to the brook and pick five smooth stones to slay your Goliaths? Would you go as far as taking the jawbone of a donkey to destroy your spiritual enemies?
Or do you throw in the towel and give up the fight? It is easy to walk off the battle field and give up the race. But the prize goes to the one that runs consistently and passionately. Lets highlight a few points about Jacobs wrestling match:
1. Jacob was obedient. When God told him to move, he packed all that he had and moved to the land God showed him. If you want to wrestle for your blessings and receive your blessings, make sure that you are obedient to all that God is telling you to do.
2. Do you have a promise to stand on when you go into a wrestling match? Why did Jacob get into the wrestling match? God promised Jacob that He would be with him and deal well with Jacob. But Jacob faced opposition from his brother Esau. Instead of running from Esaus army, Jacob wrestled with God to see His promise reach fruition.
3. Were you alone? There are some battles that need to be fought with brethren and there are some battles where God wants you to wrestle for your blessings alone. "And Jacob was left alone." This was Jacobs perfect opportunity to wrestle. No women bringing him food, no time-outs to play with children ... just one desperate man wrestling with a God that, he knew, would deliver him.
Are you prepared to wrestle for your blessings?
