Limiting God
Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the stream overflowed; can he give bread also? Can he provide flesh for his people? Therefore the Lord heard this, and was wroth...Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation.
Psalm 78:20 to 22 (paraphrased)"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For without faith it is impossible to please God." Proverbs 24:10 says, "If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small."
Adversity is going to come. However, if we believe that God rewards them that diligently seek Him and if we believe that God can deliver us and we can stand strong at the end of the day, adversity will not overcome you.
But too often Christians give up in the day of adversity. Their faith fails them and they cannot overcome; and Proverbs says that these Christians are small and weak. It is at that point that they limit God in what He is able to do for them.
"Lord, I trusted in You for this breakthrough, but I cannot carry on anymore." When you feel like this, you need to push harder and not limit God. You need to ask God to strengthen your faith in Him. The Bible says that Jesus is the author and the perfecter (finisher) of your faith.
In other words, instead of limiting God when the day of adversity comes, rather draw closer to God and never ever give up on what God is able to do in your life.
How do you know that you are limiting God? When you trust more in the natural than in God; you go running to the doctor first and God last when sickness comes. We run to the bank for a loan first and then, when all else fails, you run to God for help.
Remember, Jesus said, "With men it is impossible; but not with God. For with God ALL things are possible." Nothing is impossible to them that believe in a living God.
