Be Ye Not Unwise

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the LORD is.

Ephesians 5:17

Matthew 7:21 says, "Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven." Do you know what Gods will is?

Throughout the Bible, God tells us what His will is. It is not just going out into the world and preaching the Gospel. The only way you are going to know Gods will, and more specifically, His will for your life, is by spending time in His presence and getting to know God and what He had in mind for you when He created you.

Pauls letter to the Ephesians was such, "Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light. See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil."

Redeem the time ... rescue or recover your time from waste; improve the way in which you are spending your time for the days are evil. You budget your finances when you get paid. But how often do you budget your time? How often do you seize the day?

Are you fulfilling Gods will for your life? Or are you too lazy or lethargic to do His will? "Ill pray after I watch the movie." Or "Ill visit that destitute family down the road after I've slept a few hours." Seize the moment. When the Holy Spirit convicts you to do something, be swift to obey. Procrastination is indeed the thief of time.

Do not be foolish about the way you spend your life. God has indeed prepared a plan and purpose for your life that goes beyond everything you can hope, dream, imagine, or conceive in your mind. Do not let your life go to waste on the things of this world. Rather, get to know God, His will for your life, and start walking on a road that the Word promises you will delight in.
