Fighting the Battle Alone

Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.

1 Chronicles 19:13

Going into a battle alone is like stepping into a dark room and not putting the lights on. You will stumble over the smallest toy or walk into walls and closet doors. And in our spiritual walk ... too often we step into a battle without God. We face a sudden, spontaneous situation and we try to overcome it on our own.

In the verse above, the army of Israel faced an enemy that attacked them from both directions. They were not prepared for that. They had the Syrians behind them and the children of Ammon before them. They were outnumbered and the enemys strategy was better than that of Israels.

But Israel had the Living God on their side. And this is what they depended on. When they had to face the battle, they re-strategized. But more importantly, they allowed God to do "that which is good in his sight." We might look at a situation and see defeat ... God never does. To Him, you are always the head and never the tail ... provided you are willing to listen to His strategy and His plan for the battle.

Sometimes He may ask you to gather five stones from a brook and take aim and fire, like David against Goliath. Sometimes He might tell you to make a joyful noise and watch the walls collapse around you, as Joshua did. Or He may tell you to stand still and see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.

Every battle you fight — whether it is sickness, poverty — whatever the battle — you need a strategy from God; every step you take needs Gods direction and every action needs Gods power behind it.

Do you have God fighting your battles? Do you come face-to-face with a problem and immediately seek God in prayer about it? Today, I encourage you to put ALL your trust in the King of kings. NEVER fight a battle without a Living God on your side.
