Stand in the Gap
And I sought for a man among them that should make up the hedge, and stand in the gap before me for the land, that I should not destroy it: but I found none.
Ezekiel 22:30Sitting down is easy to do — its easy to take a position of just not doing anything. It is easy to develop a no care attitude, "I have given my life to Jesus and I am going to Heaven. What more do you want from me?"
Well, actually, God wants you to STAND UP. He wants you to make a difference in the lives of others. God created you a mighty warrior. You were born to make up the hedge in the battle line; to proclaim liberty to the captives, to heal the sick, to make the lame walk, to declare Gods Word, to take the Kingdom of God forward.
Do you know who you really are? Do you know the power that you have within you?
Four lepers sat at the gates of their kingdom, waiting to meet death. But they stood up and four sickly lepers who made a decision to stand up made an army flee in fear. David, one man, killed a giant and made the enemy run in fear. Elijah, one man, shamed 450 prophets of Baal. Jesus destroyed EVERY enemy and overcame every sickness and took on every sin ... so that you can live in victory.
But by all means ... sit down and let that power in you go to waste. People who stand up are people who know their God and who are on fire for their God. They do not compromise, they do not quit, they do not go crying to their mummies, but they stand up and fight. And when they run away to get rest, they return more forceful and more fired up.
Can God trust you to stand in the gap now? Too often we pass on our responsibility onto other people because it is so much easier to sit down and watch from a distance. God is looking for people to stand in the gap NOW. Not tomorrow, not when you are ready, but TODAY.
