Knoweth the Heart?

But the LORD said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature, because I have refused Eliab: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.

1 Samuel 16:7

Praise God that He does not concern Himself about our outward appearance. You could be Beauty or the Beast ... to God you are created in His image and in His likeness. Before God created the physical flesh that you see in the mirror God created you a spirit being. He created a perfect being ... a creation that He called "very good." It does not matter whether you have freckles, a long nose or big teeth ... to God you are "very good."

God does not look at the outward appearance but He searches the heart of man. God is not looking for a proud woman, or a man who thinks "I can" and leave out the "through Christ Jesus who gives me strength" part.

God is not looking for a man that is going to charm the world with his good looks or a lady with the cutest smile ... He searches the heart.

The Bible says that "out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh." David knew that the heart was what was important. This is why he could cry out, "Create in me a clean heart, o God," and "Search me, o God, and know my heart: try me, and know my thoughts."

What is the condition of your heart? Jesus said in Matthew 15:8, "This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me." How close is your heart to God? Are you, like David, a person who seeks after Gods own heart?

Is your heart a heart that does not condemn but loves continually and unconditionally; a heart that shows grace and mercy when you are harmed and judgment when the rare occasion arises? How well do you know your hearts condition?
