The Kingly Anointing
Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren, and the Spirit of the Lord came upon David from that day forward.
1 Samuel 16:13God did not create you to be a mouse, a parrot, a cricket or a nobody. Truth be told, when you give your life to Jesus your life is transformed from a life mediocre to a life of royalty. You are adopted into a heavenly Kingdom and you are made a joint heir with Jesus Christ and an heir to the kingdom of Heaven ... you are a chosen person, a royal priesthood.
You may see yourself as a person picking bread crumbs from the masters feet or as a slave at the mercy of an unfair manager ... but God has made you a mighty child; a child with destiny and purpose; a child that has a glorious future; a child that has an abundant, prosperous life.
Ask yourself this question, "What is the anointing that God has placed over my life?" David was just a shepherd boy until Samuel anointed him king. All your Bible characters were not born knowing their purpose. Moses did not know he would be Israels deliverer. Paul never knew he would exhort the same people that he persecuted. Peter never knew that he would have the greatest opportunity of not just walking with the Messiah for years, but to continue in ministry and feed Jesus sheep.
But each of these men had an anointing over their lives ... this anointing comes from the same Holy Spirit but each anointing had a different purpose at a certain time in history. You are where you are at the moment because God has placed you here for a specific purpose and plan.
What is your anointing? What has God set you apart for? What is your mission? What is the vision that God wants to give you? The anointing equips you to move into an area of greatness in the Kingdom. David went from shepherd to king, Gideon from a coward to a mighty man of valour, Moses from a convict to a deliverer. Every child of God carries an anointing. Have you discovered yours?
