The Promise of the Father
And, being assembled together with them, commanded them that they should not depart from Jerusalem, but wait for the promise of the Father, which, saith he, ye have heard of me.
Acts 1:4The Holy Spirit is our power and our fire. Without the Holy Spirit we cannot be effective ministers in the world. The Bible says that "you shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth."
Jesus gave us an excellent account of the Holy Spirit in the Gospel of John. In John 14:16 we discover that the Holy Spirit is our Comforter. He is the One who supports and strengthens us. When were going through the storms of life the Holy Spirit is there to uplift us.
Next, we find that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth. In other words, the Holy Spirit living in you makes known to you all truth. Titus 1:2 says that God cannot lie. So when you're going through a situation, be it a season of joy or a season of sorrow, the Holy Spirit will give you the truth that comes from the Word that will guide you into continued victory.
In John 14:26 we then come to know the Holy Spirit as our Teacher and our Guide. He is our faithful Friend who will direct our paths. When you are in the field, facing real life, the Holy Spirit teaches you; He will take you by the arm and direct you.
The Holy Spirit is also our Lawyer. He represents us when the enemy comes to accuse us of past mistakes. He is the light within you, the river of living water that overflows from within your innermost being.
Today, endeavour to be more receptive to what the Holy Spirit is telling you. Allow the Holy Spirit to guide you into all truth, to show you things to come, to establish you and to build you up.
