I Love the Lord Because...

I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.

Psalm 116:1

Have you ever had lonely times in your life? One of the most common causes of suicide today is neglect ... nobody to listen to a person when they're in a sticky situation.

King David had many such situations in his life. There were many times when he was on the run, or in hiding, or just needed some solitary time. But through it all David always remembered one thing ... His God was there to listen to his voice and his supplications.

In Psalm 115 we read, "Our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased. Their idols are silver and gold, the work of mens hands. They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not: They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not: They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat."

David knew that his King, his Almighty God is the only God who speaks, who listens, who answers, who directs and who guides His children. Idols are dead, they are but statues. But his God hears the voices of His beautiful children and He delights in their supplications.

And that, my dear friend, was only one reason why David loved the Lord. Do you love God because He listens to you? To David, just the mere fact that his God had ears to hear him, was more than enough reason to say, "Lord, I love you."

God never left Moses when he approached Pharaoh or Joshua when he crossed the river Jordan. He was with David when Goliath stumbled and fell and He was with Paul on his many journeys. God loves you so much that He does not want you to ever be alone. He even gave you His Holy Spirit to be your friend and guide at all times — twenty four hours a day.
