Tar On My Car

Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

Isaiah 1:18

I love my car. Its not a fancy car, its not modern, has no passive safety features, but it fulfils the purpose for which it was created. Whilst driving home one day I went through some roadworks. They were applying tar to a certain section of a road and I drove through it. What a disaster. I got tar on my front bumper, my windscreen, my bonnet, my fenders, my doors ... my car was almost covered in tar.

I have a white car, heavily stained from lack of polishing, and now I had to deal with a whole lot of tar stuck all over the vehicle. I got the car washed, but this did not remove the tar. I then bought some petrol and painfully removed these tar spots from the vehicle. Lo and behold. I had an almost brand new car. The old stains that were embedded into the cars beauty were gone; stains that were around for years vanished because of some strong ingredient called petrol and car polish.

Do you know that God feels much more for you than I felt for that car? When it was dirty, I disliked it, wanted to get rid of it. But God, when He sees our lives covered in dirt and tar, He says, "Come to Me, and though you look scarlet, I will make you look as white as snow." God is a merciful God and it is not His will for you to perish in eternal fire. He yearns for a relationship with you.

He then went one further and gave you His Holy Spirit to help you. I encourage you to get your life washed in the blood of Jesus today. Get rid of those old stains and fresh tar. The blood of Jesus is more powerful than car polish and petrol ... His blood will remove the stains that are years old, even stains and curses that have passed down the family line into your life.

You cannot hide from Him and He knows everything about you already. Confess your sins to Him, accept Him as your Lord and Saviour; He is faithful and just to forgive you and cleanse you.
