Addressing Your Mountains

Who art thou, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel thou shalt become a plain.

Zechariah 4:7

"Who are thou, O great mountain?" Those are extremely powerful words. These are the words of the LORD unto Zerubbabel saying, "Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts."

A lot of the time we find ourselves like the Israelite children who, for forty years, walked around the mountains trying to reach their Promised Land. But there comes a point when the mountain has to become a plain, a flat piece of land that is easily surmountable. Two things to consider here:

Firstly, human power cannot flatten plains. All the strength that man possesses cannot make a mountain a plain. It is only the power of the Holy Spirit. If you have accepted Jesus as your Lord and Saviour, you have the Holy Spirit abiding in you; God speaks directly to you and through you by the Holy Spirit abiding in you. You have the power to make mountains a plain.

Second, the word of the LORD was spoken to a situation. You see, Zerubbabel did not pray, "O Lord, make this mountain a plain before me." Instead, he addressed the problem directly —he spoke to the mountain; he told the mountain, "O you, great mountain, you shall be made a plain."

Theres a prayer point we pray, "You, my enemy of fear, what are you waiting for? Scatter in the name of Jesus." I have learned that the enemys time is up. I was just entertaining the enemy; walking around my mountain trying to avoid that spirit of fear. But the day I said, "O you, mountain of fear, today you shall be made a plain in my life," the enemy feared. And when I use the name of Jesus, demons tremble and scatter.

What is the mountain in your life? What are the problems you are going through at the moment that seem so insurmountable? Today, declare to your problem, "O, great mountain before me, today you shall become a plain."
