The Pain of Growth

As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby.

1 Peter 2:2

Being a father of three, I have learnt that when one is promoted to a new level, this promotion comes with tribulation and hardship. A baby does not just eat solids and all is fine. There may be a few days of an upset stomach and some adjustment to the system to adapt to the new food.

Likewise, in the Christian walk, all is not always rosy. But God has plans for your life to get you to a position in life; be it spiritually or physically or mentally, and that promotion, too, brings hardship at times.

The more anointing of the Holy Spirit that you desire in your life the more tribulations you can expect. The Holy Spirit anointing is dynamic, and the more you desire it the more you are going to find yourself in the lions den. Does this mean that you must not desire the anointing and spiritual growth? Well, does a child stop eating because she does not want to grow anymore? Does a child remain on milk all her life because she does not want the pain associated with moving to meat?

Are you able to move onto more solid food or is your desire to remain at the spiritual state you are currently at? Are you able to bear the tribulations associated with the desire for a more abundant life through the anointing?

1 Corinthians 10 says, "There is no temptation that can overtake you that is not common to man." In other words, you can be assured that the situation you find yourself in has been lived and overcome by somebody else already.

The Word goes on to say, "God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able: but with all temptation He makes a way to escape, that you may be able to bear it." God wants you to be an overcomer. He will not put you into a situation that you cannot get out of. Gods desire is to see you grow into the person He created you to be.
