The Fiery Tongue
But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.
James 3:8The tongue ... such a small part of the human body, yet it kindles such a great fire. Have you ever wondered why things never work out for you sometimes? Why, just when you feel that the breakthrough is there, everything falls apart?
The tongue is the most powerful tool that the believer has. You can bring a giant to his knees or you can condemn a man to death. You, unknowingly, can condemn yourself, and wonder why things are not working out for you.
Did you ever get up in the morning and say," Oh, Lord, I just don't feel like going to work today." or "My manager is such a pain. I hate my job." Well, that's exactly how you are going to feel and what your manager is going to be like until you decide to confess positively into your life.
Proverbs 18:21 tells us that "death and life are in the power of the tongue, and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof." So if you delight in speaking negatively, then so be it — I hope you enjoy the fruit it bears.
Consider this — God did not think things into existence in Genesis 1. No. God said ... and it was done. Did God doubt? No. He believed that what He said will be done, and it was finished.
Do you want to walk in health? Then stop confessing that you're sick and start walking in faith. The Word tells me that by His stripes I am healed. The next time somebody asks you how you are feeling, tell them, "I am on top of the world." Confess with your mouth and believe that it is done.
Don't look at your circumstances; look at the Word of God. Despite how negative the situation looks, lay hold of your faith and trust in God and confess; speak your victory into your life.
