Greater Is He That Is In You
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.
1 John 4:4The Bible says that it is the Holy Spirit that abides in us. But not many of us realize what this really means. Romans 8:11 says, "But if the Spirit of him that raised Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by His Spirit that dwelleth in you."
All the hospital machinery in this world cannot bring a dead man back to life. They can try shock treatment, they can try pushing tubes and medicines down the throat, and they can use all the electricity and power available to them. But this has no effect. You have the power to say unto the dead, "Rise up and walk" and, if you do not doubt, nothing shall be impossible for you. You have the life-giving power of God living within you.
But that's not all. In the book of Galatians we find out that this God living inside of you bears good fruit; every good fruit that you need to reflect Christ in you has already been made available to you. You have the power to be filled with love, to rejoice always, to live in peace with all men and to exercise patience.
But, we go one further. In 1 Corinthians 12 we discover that this very power that lives in you lives in every believer — and the Holy Spirit brings the Body together and blesses the Body with gifts.
What are these gifts? The gift of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, the gifts of healing, the working of miracles, and the gift of prophecy, amongst others. Jesus never wanted you to be without help and comfort. That is why He told His disciples, "I must go away, for if I do not, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you."
Within you is a God that is far greater than the gods of this world. His name is Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, the Comforter, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace. Let Him who began a good work in you finish what He has started.
