Psalm 91 has always been knows as the "Protection Chapter." Whenever we need Gods protection we know we can stand on His promises in Psalm 91 and a thousand will fall by our left side and ten thousand by our right side. But no harm shall come to you. But ... where is the secret place of the Most High?

Verse 1 tells us to dwell in the secret place of the Most High. In order for us to dwell somewhere we need to know where this place is. We need to ask God for directions to this secret place. After all, a secret can only be revealed to those whom God wishes to reveal it to. And when I asked God to reveal this secret place to me, He gave me one word — Obedience.

If you want to dwell in the secret place of the Most High you need to be attentive to Gods voice and, moreover, you must be ready to obey Gods voice. When I was sixteen years old I ran away from home and ended up staying in a flat with a fellow colleague. There were eleven of us in one room and I could not sleep the whole night because I was afraid.

I stepped out of obedience to my parents. I rebelled against them and, as a result, stepped out of the protection of the home they gave me. I stepped out of their hands of protection from everything — I was a sitting duck waiting to be devoured. Likewise, stepping out of obedience from Gods instruction takes you out of His "home."

Today and every day, endeavour to live a life pleasing to the LORD. If you want to dwell in the secret place of the Most High and if you want to be kept under the shadow of the Almighty you need to heed His instruction.

Pray that God will give you the spirit of obedience that, when the next time He calls your name, your reply will be, "Here I am, LORD. Your servant is listening and waiting to obey."
