Jesus said, "There is nothing covered that shall not be revealed: neither hid that shall not be known." Whatever you do in darkness shall be revealed in the light.

Man is a triune being, made up of spirit, soul and body. The spirit of man plays a vital role. The apostle Paul said that the body, which was formed of the dust, does not understand the things of God. It is the spirit of man that understands the things of God.

What is the role of a candle? To give light in darkness and to expose things that cannot be seen in the dark. People who desire to draw closer to God continuously examine themselves. They will continue to search within themselves for sins that are keeping them captive.

A Christian must always compare themselves against Gods standards. Jesus said that He is the Bread of Life that came down from Heaven. Oftentimes you need to fast from carnal bread and eat Bread that gives eternal life. You need spiritual food that will feed your spirit.

And then you also need to spend time in Gods Word. The more you read the Word of God the more opportunity the spirit man has of being the candle of the Lord that searches your innermost being. You do not light a candle and search for nothing. You search for things that you know about. And the only way you are going to know if you have sinned against God is by studying the Word of God and finding out what is acceptable and unacceptable to God.

The Word promises you that out of your innermost being shall flow rivers of living water. You cannot eat filth and have living waters flow from within you. Because the flesh is at enmity with the spirit, you need to crucify the flesh with its lusts and desires and you need to put on the spirit man that desires to please God.
