The Light Shineth
And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the waters.
Genesis 1:2There are four distinct characteristics of the earth after God formed it but before He moulded it. And a lot of us can relate to this form and shape during our walk with Christ.
The first thing we know of the earth is that it had no form. It is like a piece of clay in your hands that you just squeeze. It has no shape, no comeliness and no beauty. The matter is distorted and that distortion creates confusion and chaos. That's much what the enemy tries to do when we face an area of attack — he tries to confuse us and make the world around us operate in chaos.
Next, the earth was void, empty, vacant — quite simply, the earth was a wasteland. When Satan comes up against you his aim is to destroy you. He wants to make your beautiful life a wasteland. He wants to empty you of every good thing that God has done in you and for you.
Third, darkness was upon the face of the deep. What do you know about darkness? When you're walking through the city, do you go through dark alleys or do you stick to illuminated road? Darkness creates fear and removes faith. Fear creates anxiety, stress and just about everything the Word does not want us to be. In the dark you are easy picking for the enemy.
Fourth, and this is where the situation starts changing — the Spirit of God moved upon the waters. Darkness goes deep down; but the Spirit of God was on top. When God saw the darkness, He said, "Let there be light" and there was light.
How confident are you in life? Do you believe that the Spirit of God is in control? The Word tells you to "Arise, shine, for thy light is come, and the glory of the Lord is risen upon thee." I encourage you to pray this prayer point in your life, "Oh Lord, arise, shine and let Your light and Your glory shine upon me, in the name of JESUS." When God illuminates, darkness scatters.
