Knowing the Abominations

Son of man, cause Jerusalem to know her abominations.

Ezekiel 16:2

God is a holy God and He does not allow sin in His presence. But He is also a God of grace too, slow to anger and full of mercy. His will is that man will not die in their iniquity but that all men come to repentance and know the true and the living God.

Romans 12 says that you are to present yourself to God a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto Him. It is something no man can do on his own. We need Gods help. If we want to learn to play football, we do not ask a tennis coach to teach us. Likewise, if we want to be holy we need to go to a God that is holy, and His name is JEHOVAH.

God knows of any and all abominations in our lives. He knows about the wickedness that lies deep within our hearts and He knows our innermost thoughts. He does not delight in them and, if we would allow Him to, God will cause us to know the abominations in our lives and will remove them from our lives.

An abomination is a terrible thing that is hated by God. To Jerusalem, a land that God had blessed mightily, severe judgment came upon them because of abominations and because they did not hearken to the voice of the Lord. Did you know that in the 1,500 years of Jerusalems history prior to 70 A.D. the city was besieged no less than 18 times? On two occasions the city was utterly destroyed and on another two occasions the walls were brought down.

That is what abominations do in ones life — it binds and destroys. Abominations bring down the walls of Gods protection over ones life. It takes one captive, leaving one reminiscing over times gone by.

Allow God to show you any abominations in your life. Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God, present yourself to Him holy and acceptable and let the blood of Jesus destroy all yoke and bondage and remove all sin and abominations in your life.
