Humble Yourself
And the LORD said unto Gideon, The people that are with thee are too many for me to give the Midianites into their hands, lest Israel vaunt themselves against me, saying, Mine own hand hath saved me.
Judges 7:2There is no such thing, in the kingdom of God, as "I did it in my own strength." It is always the Almighty Creator of heaven and earth that makes all things possible for you and for me.
Sometimes God will put His people against the most impossible situations. Can you imagine 300 men fighting an entire army? Or how one prophet destroyed 450 prophets of Baal? Through all the great Biblical stories we read, God always gets the glory.
Are you a part of the three hundred men, armed and ready to take on the Midianites in your life? Have you humbled yourself before God and said, "Lord, here I am. Use me?" God created you to overcome. He gave you a winning spirit. And when we gave that winning spirit to the enemy, God sent His Son Jesus to redeem us and get back that victorious spirit. Jesus bought us back and brought us back into a winning Kingdom.
But God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble. Theres no place for proud people in the kingdom of God. A proud angel once tried to overcome God and he fell. God is not looking for a proud people that will take the glory and overthrow the kingdom. He is searching for people who will humble themselves so that He can exalt them in due time.
Gideon was found in a winepress, baking bread, sobbing away because his country was annexed and they were living in famine. He had to humble himself before God; he had to reach a point of knowing that he was nothing without God. Only then could he be called to be a mighty man of valour.
Thirty-two thousand people came forward to fight the battle with Gideon. But only three hundred humbled themselves and trusted in God for the victory ... and the victory they got.
