What Is Your Potential
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Philippians 4:13If I asked you to tell me about your potential, what would you say? Many people do not know what their potential is. Giving your best does not necessarily mean that you have reached your full potential. We look at potential in terms of family, in careers, with friends and in our hobbies, but how often does a believer today look at his potential as a child of God?
Webster defines potential as "existing in possibility but not in act." In other words we believe that it can be done but rarely do we see it transpire. Gideon was a perfect example of wasted potential. Before the angel of the Lord visited him, he was sitting in a winepress crushing wheat. David is another prime example ... he was a shepherd boy. Moses, too, never realized potential ... he saw himself as a stuttering murderer.
And as we continue to read the Word of God we come across many men and women who never knew their potential. No. Not until they had a personal encounter with God. Gideon went from baking bread to leading 300 men and his city to victory. David went from shepherd boy to king. Moses went from stuttering murderer to be called the First Deliverer of Gods people.
And so, today, many of us are sitting with unused potential. The possibility exists to do great and magnificent signs, wonders and miracles, but in act we have become accountants, secretaries, managers, and we have failed to use the potential that says, "With God all things are possible."
Are you ready to realize your potential? Don't be fooled by mans nice words about how well you work in the office; go before God and get Gods assessment and report about yourself ... you will be amazed how lacking we sometimes are in areas of our lives. Today, remember the potential that God has placed in you and go forward in that potential. Are you willing to surrender to God and let Him bring out the best in you?
