A Long Distance Call
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusts in Him.
Psalm 34:8The Psalmist David made a marvelous comment here, "Taste" and see that the LORD is good! Do you know the Statue of Liberty in America? We've seen it on television and in magazines numerous times. But how many of us have tasted the statue? Have you had the opportunity to go to America and walk that flight of stairs to the top, to look at the city from the crown of the lady? That is "tasting." It is a personal experience.
God does not want us living our lives at a distance from Him. He does not want us to believe Him because His Word speaks of Him - He wants us to believe in Him because we have first-hand experience of God in our lives.
David encourages you to "taste" and see that God is good. Develop that relationship with God where you have testimonies of the goodness of the LORD in your life. It's not you sharing other people's testimonies and believing - but you living a life of the impossible with a God who delights in achieving the impossible in your life.
Did you know that God heals? Do you have a personal experience of God's healing power? Do you know God as your Provider? As your Saviour? As your Deliverer? As your Strength and your Portion? As the Solid Rock on which you can stand? As the Bread of Life? As the Good Shepherd? As the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End? As your Friend? As your Redeemer? As a God of grace and mercy, and love and compassion?
My friend, there are no long distance calls in the kingdom of God. When you give your life to JESUS, He dwells in you! He walks with you! He talks to you! He forges a relationship with you! O taste and see that the LORD is good!
