I Have Loved You
I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us?
Malachi 1:2How beautiful God starts His message to His people, "I have loved you." God established a covenant with Abraham and, because of His love and His mercy, established that covenant with those who will receive Jesus into their hearts.
Throughout the Bible we see one of two characteristics of God: His judgment and His love. His judgment for those who will not receive Him but want to live according to the lusts of this world; and His love to those who will receive Him and live for Him. And even in judgment, He continues to love those that will not receive Him. God is a God of love — that is His nature.
And yet so often we question that love that God has for us. We find ourselves in a valley and we start questioning God, just as the Israelites questioned God here, "Wherein hast thou loved us?"
"How can you say that you love us? Prove us that love." And day in and day out we wait for this huge miracle to happen when God is showing you His love by extending His kingdom, His mercy, His grace, His compassion, His peace, His joy, His everything to you. He even gave you His Son to die for you and to reconcile you to the Father.
Always remember that you are loved and cherished. Throughout His Word you will discover that He has called you, that He will never leave you nor forsake you; that He will raise up a banner for you in the day of trouble. He reminds you to never fear, never be afraid, for He is with you to the end of days.
Beloved, no matter where you find yourself at this moment; at the bottom of the valley or on the mountaintop - never forget that God loves you unconditionally. We may question God in our frailty sometimes but God reminds us all the time that He always, ALWAYS, loves you.
