Give Thanks Unto the Lord
It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto Thy name, O Most High.
Psalm 92:1Have there ever been times when you want to get into a time of prayer and you just cannot? You start praying and you feel that your prayer is just hitting a brick wall? You are calling out to God and it feels that your voice is being swallowed by the silence around you?
Satan hates praise. He knows that one day he too has to bow before the King of kings and he has to proclaim, "You are the Lord of all." And if Satan can stop your praise, and if he can discourage you from giving praise unto the Lord, he in fact is getting you to lose the battle in spiritual warfare.
Praise is a powerful weapon. When Paul and Silas needed to be set free from a prison cell, they praised God. When Israel went to fight their enemies, there were times when they had to stand and praise the Lord ... and victory was theirs. Today, the power of praise continues through your lips.
Psalm 100:4 says, "Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise, be thankful unto Him, and bless His name." Before you can get into those courts of praise, you need to enter into the gates with thanksgiving. And it works. Revelation 12 says, "They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and the words of their testimonies."
What are testimonies? They are songs of thanks unto the Lord for His mercy, for His delivering power, for the victory He has given you over the enemy and over circumstances.
The next time you feel like you are stuck and your prayer is going nowhere, just pause, think back to the blessings God has given you, and testify of His goodness.
"O give thanks unto the Lord, for He is good, for His mercy endures forever."
