Whatever It Takes

The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

James 5:16b

Do you have an "I will do whatever it takes" attitude? Or are you just living life one day at a time? You feel like you are not too concerned about your finances, your job is hectic but manageable, the car is still running, even though it hasn't had its regular service, the children are walking around healthy and theres food on the table. Life is just perfect for you right now. Or is it? Really?

God does not want you to have a nonchalant attitude. He wants you to have an "I will do whatever it takes" attitude. It is an attitude that you need to develop and practice and build on. Quitting is not in Gods dictionary. Yes, walk away from the battle sometimes, but come back more fierce, more fervent, more determined to fight and overcome; more determined to live a fulfilled life, not a mediocre life.

Having the right attitude gives you the perfect victory. A lady with an issue of blood had the right attitude. "If I can touch the hem of His garment I will be healed." But she had a challenge. She had to fight her way through the crowd. And that she did, and was healed that very hour.

Four friends had the right attitude. They were willing to do whatever it took to get their friend healed. So when the house was too packed and they could not get through they got onto the roof, removed the tiles, and their faith in Jesus got their friend healed as they lowered him down to where Jesus was.

Have you developed the right attitude yet? Heres how to get started. First — have a desire to draw closer to God. If you do not have this desire you will not have the right attitude. Second, you need to admit that your life is not perfect and you need Gods help. Third, and very important — your spouse, children and friends are not the enemy. We fight a spiritual battle — you need to know who the enemy is. Have faith in God. Develop a spirit of bold and strong faith. Without faith you will not have the "I will do whatever it takes" attitude.
