They That Wait Upon the Lord
But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.
Isaiah 40:31Everything you could possibly need in life, be it finances, marital advice, wisdom on how to be victorious, or advice to any other problem that you may have, can be found in the Word of God. The Word is alive, powerful, sharper than any two-edged sword, life-giving and refreshing.
The word "wait" comes from the Hebrew word "qavah" and means to have an expectation, a hope, to eagerly look for something, or to bind together. Waiting upon the LORD needs faith; it means being patient yet having an expectation that He will answer you. God promises four things to those who will wait upon Him.
Firstly, that HE shall renew their strength. Life today is exhausting. But your hope to get through the day must not be in man. By waiting upon God you can get through any day. He promises to renew your strength when you are weak.
Second, He promises that they will mount up with wings as eagles. This is a marvellous promise. God does not give us chicken feathers so that we can scratch at the ground and just get by. He lifts us up higher than the mountains. He gives us the ability to see beyond us, beyond our problems, beyond the world we see when we are planted on the ground.
Third, we shall run and not be weary. God says, "Wait upon Me; wait for Me to tell you what to do and how to do it. Take My wisdom and My understanding and you will not grow weary." God will give us the might to run and to keep running.
Finally, you shall walk and shall not faint. Be assured that if you put your trust in God to get through the day you shall continuously be refreshed. Wait upon the LORD; put your hope, your faith, your trust, your everything in Him.
